“If the aunties teach us anything, it is that caring intelligence begins with honest attention to ourselves, to our cycles, to what we carry, and that technology, at its best, can hold space for that kind of honesty.” On the occasion of Auntiescapes by @niceaunties , on view at @LoadGallery Barcelona until 15 August, we invite you to read the conversation on our website (link in comments), about the body as landscape, ageing, humour, care, and the possibility of a technological future that feels hospitable.
2/4 This month, our team had the pleasure of visiting the opening of her latest exhibition, ‘Auntiescapes’ at @LoadGallery in Barcelona, alongside attending a private dinner in London, by @KiritosuStudio where guests were given a first look at the trailer for ‘Time of the Nice Aunties’ a documentary film currently in production with @niceaunties.
GM! Mirror Into Auntieverse is an interactive installation that replaces your reflection with a speaking auntie from the Auntieverse. Built within a nineteenth century Napoleon III mirror frame sourced from Les Puces de Saint Ouen in Paris, the work uses real time motion capture to track visitors and overlay their faces with one of eight aunties, each with her own voice and personality. After a few seconds, she speaks. Her remarks are blunt, familiar, and rooted in what I call the "auntie love language," a mode of care expressed through directness and unsolicited commentary. First produced in collaboration with Load Gallery for Paris Photo 2025, the mirror has since been upgraded with more aunties and wireless polaroid printing. Mirror Into Auntieverse is currently on view as part of my solo exhibition Auntiescapes at Load Gallery Barcelona, until 15 August 2026. It is also available for collection!

Managed to visit @LoadGallery while in Barcelona for the exhibition of the new body of work by @niceaunties 🙌 Haven‘t seen such a good display of the art since a long time and of course some great work 👀 There are some dope prints available with a pretty low edition count.
