অন্তর্বর্তীকালীন সরকারের বিবৃতি ঢাকা, ৯ মে, ২০২৫: সম্প্রতি বিভিন্ন রাজনৈতিক দল, সংগঠন ও জনগণের পক্ষ থেকে স্বৈরশাসন ও সন্ত্রাসী কার্যক্রমের অভিযোগে আওয়ামী লীগ নিষিদ্ধ করার যে দাবি উঠেছে, তা সরকার গুরুত্বের সাথে বিবেচনা করছে। এ ব্যাপারে সরকার রাজনৈতিক দলগুলোর সাথে ইতোমধ্যে যোগাযোগ স্থাপন করেছে, তাদের সাথে আলোচনা করে দ্রুত সিদ্ধান্ত গ্রহণ করবে। এক্ষেত্রে আওয়ামী লীগের নেতা ও সমর্থকদের সন্ত্রাসী কার্যক্রমের বিষয়ে জাতিসংঘের প্রতিবেদন সরকার বিবেচনায় রাখছে। সে পর্যন্ত সকলকে ধৈর্য ধারণ করার আহ্বান জানাচ্ছে। উল্লেখ্য যে, ইতোমধ্যে সরকার জনদাবীর প্রতি সম্মান জানিয়ে প্রচলিত আইনের অধীনে সন্ত্রাসী সংগঠন ছাত্রলীগকে নিষিদ্ধ করেছে। এছাড়া, সরকারের পক্ষে থেকে মানবতাবিরোধী অপরাধের সাথে জড়িত সংগঠনের বিরুদ্ধে ব্যবস্থা গ্রহণের জন্য আন্তর্জাতিক অপরাধ ট্রাইবুনাল আইনে প্রয়োজনীয় সংশোধনী আনার উদ্যোগ নেওয়া হয়েছে। ফ্যাসিবাদী সরকারের সাবেক রাষ্ট্রপতি ও হত্যা মামলার আসামি আবদুল হামিদের বিদেশ গমন সম্পর্কে জনমনে ক্ষোভ বিষয়ে সরকার অবগত। এ ঘটনার সাথে জড়িত সকলের বিরুদ্ধে উপযুক্ত আইনগত ব্যবস্থা নিতে সরকার বদ্ধপরিকর রয়েছে।

লাইসেন্স পেলো স্টারলিংক ঢাকা, এপ্রিল ২৮, ২০২৫: মার্কিন এনজিএসও সেবাদাতা স্টারলিংকের লাইসেন্স অনুমোদন করেছেন প্রধান উপদেষ্টা প্রফেসর মুহাম্মদ ইউনূস। আজ সোমবার তিনি এই লাইসেন্স অনুমোদন করেন। বাংলাদেশ টেলিযোগাযোগ নিয়ন্ত্রণ কমিশন (বিটিআরসি) কর্তৃক গত ২৫ মার্চ Non-Geostationary Orbit (NGSO) Satellite Services Operator In Bangladesh শীর্ষক লাইসেন্সিং গাইডলাইন জারি করে। উক্ত গাইডলাইনের আওতায় Starlink Services Bangladesh Non-Geostationary Orbit (NGSO) Satellite Services Operator License প্রাপ্তির জন্য প্রযোজ্য ফি এবং প্রয়োজনীয় কাগজপত্রসহ বিটিআরসি বরাবর আবেদন করেছে। প্রতিষ্ঠানটির অনুকূলে আবেদনকৃত লাইসেন্স ইস্যুর জন্য গত ২১ এপ্রিল অনুষ্ঠিত ২৯৪তম কমিশন সভায় নীতিগত সিদ্ধান্ত গৃহীত হয়। স্টারলিংক বাংলাদেশের ইন্টারনেটে নতুন সংযোজন। শ্রীলংকার পরে দক্ষিণ এশিয়ার ২য় দেশ হিসেবে বাংলাদেশে বৈশ্বিক এই স্যাটেলাইট ইন্টারনেট সেবাদাতা প্রতিষ্ঠান যাত্রা শুরু করল। এ প্রসঙ্গে ডাক টেলিযোগাযোগ ও তথ্য প্রযুক্তি বিষয়ক দায়িত্ব প্রাপ্ত প্রধান উপদেষ্টার বিশেষ সহকারী ফয়েজ আহমদ তৈয়্যব বলেন, জুলাই গণঅভ্যুত্থানের সময়ে স্বৈরাচারী শেখ হাসিনা সরকারের উপর্যুপরি ইন্টারনেট বন্ধের প্রতিবাদে স্টারলিংককে বাংলাদেশের নিয়ে আসা একটা গণদাবীতে পরিণত হয়েছিল। ‘পাশাপাশি বাংলাদেশকে বিনিয়োগ বান্ধব হিসেবে একটা বার্তা পৌঁছে দেয়ার ইচ্ছা ছিল প্রধান উপদেষ্টার। বাংলাদেশের হাওর বাওড় দ্বীপাঞ্চলে, দুর্গম পার্বত্য এলাকায়, বিশেষভাবে উপকূলীয় দুর্যোগ প্রবণ এলাকায় নিরবচ্ছিন্ন এবং মানসম্পন্ন ইন্টারনেট সেবা পৌঁছে দেওয়ার চ্যালেঞ্জ রয়েছে। যেসব অঞ্চলে এখনো ফাইবার পৌঁছেনি সেখানে দ্রুততম সময়ে মানসম্পন্ন ইন্টারনেট পৌঁছে দেওয়ার চাহিদার প্রেক্ষিতে প্রধান উপদেষ্টা স্বউদ্যোগী হয়ে স্পেইসএক্স সিইও ইলন মাস্ককে ফোন করে ৯০ দিনের মধ্যে স্টারলিংককে বাংলাদেশে কার্যক্রম শুরু করার আহ্বান জানান। এ লক্ষ্য অর্জনে বিডা, বিটিআরসি, ডাক টেলিযোগাযোগ ও তথ্যপ্রযুক্তি মন্ত্রণালয় এবং প্রধান উপদেষ্টার কার্যালয় নিবিড়ভাবে কাজ করেছে,’ বলেন তিনি। ফয়েজ তৈয়্যব বলেন, স্টারলিংকের সেবাগুলো মধ্যে একটা প্রাথমিক সেবা হচ্ছে নিরবচ্ছিন্ন উচ্চগতির ইন্টারনেট, যেখানে লোডশেডিংয়ের সঙ্গে সঙ্গে ইন্টারনেট বন্ধ হয়ে যাবে না, যেটা আইএসপির ক্ষেত্রে হয়। অনেক ক্ষেত্রে যদি লম্বা সময় ধরে লোডশেডিং থাকে, মোবাইল টাওয়ারের ব্যাটারির ব্যাকআপ ফুরিয়ে গেলে মোবাইল ইন্টারনেটেও বিঘ্ন ঘটে। স্টারলিংকের ক্ষেত্রে এ ধরনের সমস্যা হবে না। ‘আরেকটা ব্যাপার হচ্ছে, বাংলাদেশে ফাইবার নেটওয়ার্কের বিস্তৃতি সীমিত। উপরন্তু এই ফাইবার নেটওয়ার্কের উল্লেখযোগ্য অংশ টেলকো গ্রেডের নয়। বাংলাদেশের অন্তত ৬৫ শতাংশ টেলিযোগাযোগ টাওয়ার এখনো ফাইবারাইজেশনের বাইরে, সেখানে মাইক্রোওয়েভ দিয়ে সেবা দেওয়া হয়, খুবই সীমিত ধারণক্ষমতা। আবার আমাদের মোবাইল নেটওয়ার্কের যে কাভারেজ ও ক্যাপাসিটি আছে, তাতেও সমস্যা আছে, হাইওয়ে মোবিলিটি কভারেজের সমস্যা আছে। স্টারলিংক এসব সমস্যার সমাধান করবে,’ বলেন তিনি। তিনি জানান, স্টারলিংক বাংলাদেশের মোবাইল এবং ব্রডব্যান্ড ইন্টারনেট বাজারকে প্রতিযোগিতামূলক করবে। এর মাধ্যমে ভয়েস কল এবং ডেটা বান্ডেল ভিত্তিক গতানুগতিক ইন্টারনেট সেবাদান ব্যবস্থা ডিজিটাল সার্ভিস কেন্দ্রিক নতুন রূপান্তরে মধ্য দিয়ে যাবে। তিনি বলেন, স্টার্লিংকের সার্ভিসের ফলে কমিউনিকেশন ইন্ডাস্ট্রিতে ডিরেগুলেশনের সূচনা হবে, প্রতিযোগিতা বাড়বে, শহর কিংবা গ্রামভেদে নিরবচ্ছিন্ন এবং মানসম্পন্ন উচ্চগতির ইন্টারনেট প্রাপ্তির নিশ্চয়তা তৈরি হবে।

BRICS-backed bank to lend one billion dollars to Bangladesh this year DHAKA, April 8: The BRICS-established New Development Bank has planned to raise its lending to Bangladesh development projects to one billion US dollars this year, a vice president of the Shanghai-based multilateral lender said on Tuesday. Vladimir Kazbekov, a vice president of the NDB, said the bank has approved 320 million US dollars for the implementation of the Expanded Dhaka City Water Supply Resilient project, but this year it wants to more than triple the funding amount in view of Bangladesh's development needs. Kazbekov made the comments when he called on the Chief Adviser of the Government of Bangladesh, Professor Muhammad Yunus, at the State Guest House Jamuna in Dhaka. The Chief Adviser appreciated the role of the new multilateral lender, saying it can make a significant contribution in upgrading its development infrastructure. Kazbekov said the lender was also committed to making major support for the infrastructure development of the gas sector in Bangladesh. The NDB was also interested in lending substantially to the country's private sector in an effort to strengthen their capacity, Kazbekov said. Bangladesh Chief Adviser stressed NDB lending in social infrastructure such as housing facilities for thousands of workers in the country's booming economic zones. Kazbekov said the bank has introduced multi-currency lending, which will benefit Bangladesh. Shahriar Kader Siddiqi, the Secretary of the Economic Relations Division, said the NDB should focus on introducing country strategy programmes on Bangladesh in an effort to align its funding with the development priorities of Bangladesh. BIDA Executive Chairman Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun, SDG Coordinator Lamiya Morshed and ERD Secretary Shahriar Kader Siddiqi were present in the meeting.

Top US firms to champion growing Bangladesh-US economic partnership DHAKA, April 8: Leading US investors in Bangladesh, represented by the U.S.-Bangladesh Business Council, met with the head of the interim Government Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus. They expressed their commitment to champion a growing Bangladesh-U.S. economic partnership and to help catalyze and support mutually beneficial commercial relations between the two nations. The delegation was led by Peter Haas, former US Ambassador to Bangladesh and Strategic Advisor at Excelerate Energy, and included representatives from Meta, Visa, Chevron, Uber, MetLife, Mastercard, Boeing and the U.S. Soybean Export Council. Excelerate Energy chairs the board of directors of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s U.S.-Bangladesh Business Council. The meeting, which took place on the sidelines of the Bangladesh Investment Summit, focused on strengthening trade and investment ties between the two countries. U.S. companies expressed their support for a positive and constructive relationship with the Interim Government to support a strong commercial and economic partnership. “U.S. companies have a long-term commitment to the growth story of Bangladesh, one that is anchored in resilience, entrepreneurship and long-term prosperity,” said Haas. The delegation welcomed the Interim Government’s forward-leaning approach to economic reforms that address trade and non-tariff barriers. Nisha Desai Biswal, who previously served as Deputy CEO of DFC and Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia, reaffirmed the commitment of U.S. companies that have invested in Bangladesh. The delegation offered to work with the Interim Government to identify steps that Bangladesh can take to address the trade imbalance and attract further U.S. investment. "American companies are at the heart of Bangladesh's growth. We want to ensure that Bangladesh positions itself effectively in these conversations," she said, referring to the ongoing tariff discussions. Professor Yunus thanked the executives for the contributions that American companies have made to Bangladesh's development and promised the Interim Government’s full support to overcome obstacles and improve the ease of doing business.

72 arrested over attacks on shops DHAKA, April 9: As of now, at least 72 individuals have been arrested in connection with the vandalism and attacks on shops during protests on Monday. Ten cases have been formally filed. Further investigations are underway, and additional cases are in the process of being filed against those responsible for these reprehensible acts.

Statement DHAKA, April 8: Bangladesh police have swiftly moved to take action over the violent and unlawful events that unfolded during the Pro-Gaza protests in several cities on Monday. These attacks and acts of vandalism are an affront to public safety and the rule of law. As of now, at least 49 individuals have been arrested in connection with these incidents. The police have acted swiftly, and two cases have been formally filed. Further investigations are underway, and additional cases are in the process of being filed against those responsible for these reprehensible acts. In a determined effort to bring those accountable to justice, police conducted raids last night targeting the perpetrators. Additionally, our law enforcement agencies are diligently reviewing video footage captured during the protests to identify more individuals involved. These operations will continue until all those responsible for this violence and destruction are apprehended. We urge anyone with information that may assist in the investigation to come forward. Together, we can ensure that those who seek to undermine the peace and stability of our society are held accountable.

কেমন লাগবে যদি শোনেন বাংলাদেশ ও পাকিস্তানে আগামীকাল এক নতুন আইন পাশ হবে। যে আইনে লেখা থাকবে মন্দির কমিটি এবং পূজা উদযাপন সংক্রান্ত কমিটিতে অন্তত দুইজন মুসলমান সদস্যকে রাখতে হবে। মন্দিরে পূজা কীভাবে হবে, কেমন হবে সেটা নিয়ে হিন্দুরা নয়, বাংলাদেশের সুপ্রিম কোর্ট চূড়ান্ত ফয়সালা দিবে। মন্দির কীভাবে পরিচালিত হবে, মন্দিরে আসা অনুদান কিভাবে ব্যয় করা হবে তা হিন্দুরা না বরং মুসলিমসহ সকল ধর্মের লোকেরা মিলে গঠিত একটি "সেকুলার" কমিটি ঠিক করবে। মন্দির কমিটিতে থাকার জন্য আগে হিন্দু শাস্ত্রে বিশেষজ্ঞ হওয়া আবশ্যকীয় ছিল। কিন্তু এখন আর সেই নিয়ম থাকবে না। আর হ্যাঁ। এই আইনটা কিন্তু করা হবে হিন্দুদের কল্যাণেই। কেমন লাগবে? সুশীল সমাজের রিএকশন কেমন হবে? কেমন করে চিৎকার করবে ছায়ানটি, শাহবাগীরা? জি। এরকম একটা জঘন্য আইন ইন্ডিয়াতে মুসলমানদের ওয়াকফ বোর্ড বিল নামে পাশ হয়েছে। এই আইন পাশ হওয়ার পরে হুহু করে কান্নায় ভেঙে পড়েন সাংসদ আসাদউদ্দীন ওয়াইসি।
