Untrue. There are over 100 deaths every year from Male Genital Mutilation & that's only the US.. worldwide it's much higher. Babies only have so much blood to lose & they can only scream for so long without busting a lung.. Such a waste of life, all for elective plastic surgery..

Every single day I mourn the sexual loss I experience from being subjected to the atrocity of infant foreskin amputation. Every sexual experience I have is tainted and radically diminished and it's so in my face and palpable. I mourn the person I could have been if I hadn't been subjected to extreme genital torture that permanently changed my psychology and neurological anatomy. For my entire life, my nervous system has been in a constant state of fight or flight. I'm not sure I've ever really experienced a peaceful, at ease state except with the use of drugs. I can't ever move on from this because of how deeply imprinted it is in my physical body. I feel like this mutilation defines me.

I'm starting to think that people don't really care about FGM. In Michigan a judge dismissed a case where medically licensed individuals perform it. The medical board doesn't do anything about it and the AMA does nothing about that (findings by @bdmarotta ). Where's the outrage? Why isn't this discussed as much on social media as trans kids? Why aren't the politicians pushing these organizations to actually ENFORCE the laws? Where are the street protesters? The journalists and social media influencers?

If circumcision were a decision left to men themselves—something that could only happen once they reached an age of consent—the practice would fade away on its own. Because when you strip away tradition, routine, and decisions made on behalf of infants, you’re left with a simple question: would an informed adult voluntarily choose to surgically remove part of their own body? Most wouldn’t. Especially part of your genitals! The persistence of the practice depends largely on the fact that the choice is made before the individual has any say in the matter. Once consent enters the equation, the calculus changes entirely.
