I have completed my six-years tenure as a member of the Council of the Association of Commonwealth Universities-@The_ACU. My last meeting in London was a symposium to discuss the future of higher education, including the type of university leaders that we will need in 2035 onwards. It has been a thrilling six years of engagements in this 348-member organisation, which has contributed immensely to developing higher education in the Commonwealth and beyond.

Monica Musenero has commissioned the electric vehicle fast-charging station at Makerere University, the first on a University campus in the region. She has also officially handed over three buses manufactured by Kiira Motors Corporation, including a bus specially designed to support the mobility of students with disability. Today the Chancellor of Makerere University conferred an honorary Doctor of Laws degree on Reeta Roy, First President of the Mastercard Foundation. Reeta was recognised because of the immense work she has done in empowering African youth from economically disadvantaged backgrounds to access higher education and get gainful employment.
