The best antidote to burnout is not teaching people coping skills to handle stress. It's redesigning work to reduce stress.
The cure for exhaustion is removing overwhelming demands and the norm of self-sacrifice.
Healthy workplaces value well-being as much as performance.
@krushowy @TorontoStar This article proves that school boards already have these policies.
@krushowy please look in to why the government has spent so much time and money on something that already exists instead of actually doing things to help the staff and students of #onted
Media: Stop covering pretend cell phone bans and do a story on what's really happening in education.
#onted @CBCNews @CTVToronto @CP24
Under the new formula, kindergarten will have to make do with 1,600 fewer staff. Grades 4 to 8 will have almost 1,000 fewer staff. Grades 9 to 12 will lose almost 2,600 positions. Table 1 below presents the board-by-board losses.

@ryanwhitney6 A bunch of women saying “this isn’t ok” and a bunch of hockey bros saying “get over it” and “take a joke”.
And we wonder why women don’t feel safe around men. Stop defending this shit and listen to what the women in your life are telling you. Honestly.
In a survey, educators agree: 15-20 students per class is ideal. However, research indicates that 13-17 students truly maximize learning outcomes. Why then do most public school classes still hover around 25 students?
Why does the government have to ban something that is illegal for students to have?
The fact it is illegal for them to have IS the ban.
Why didn't t Lecce ban cocaine from elementary school?
There are so many things wrong with #onted, and this is what money is spent on
Students caught filming fights should face the same consequences as those they are recording, particularly if they are actively promoting violence.
I’m confused. Very confused. So, Durham police officers chased an LCBO thief through the wrong direction on the 401, which eventually resulted in a multi-vehicle collision that took the lives of two grandparents and a baby.
Was this the best approach? Why pursue an alcohol…
"a better way to learn" would be to lower #onted class sizes and properly fund things like Spec Ed , ESL, Mental Health while bringimg cutting edge technology into the classroom to inspire the future.
A "ban" on things that are already prohibited does absolutely nothing
“It’s about changing the hearts and minds of young people to understand that there’s a better way to learn.”
Off their phones, engaged in the classroom — this is our plan to keep distractions out of sight & out of mind.
Staggering numbers. What the fuck, Doug? We want family doctors. We want to be able to buy a house. We want ti be able to buy groceries. That’s what staggering numbers of Ontarians want. #onpoli #onted
Premier Doug Ford says “staggering numbers” of Ontarians support curbs on cellphones in schools, which is why his government is restricting students’ use. trib.al/qlSfLxN
It’s been 5 years since the @fordnation government told us that firing teachers and cramming more kids into classrooms would make them more resilient.
How’s that working out @Sflecce?
The crisis you talked about today Lecce was created by your government.
#onpoli #onted
There isn't any evidence that supports @LisaThompsonMPP's claim that larger classes will help students develop resiliency.
In fact, the opposite is true. All the research says that less time with caring adults will make students less resilient.

“What did teens with diabetes do before they had apps on their cel phones?”
They did capillary blood tests and missed early signs to prevent dangerous high and low blood sugar levels.
They had a worse quality of life and missed out on more school.
And they sometimes died.
@CTVToronto Hey. Can you also cover the fact that there is an overall funding cut to #onted and that this announcement which is repeated from 2019 is only to distract from that?
That would be great!
Thanks!
I'm begging the Minister of Education:
Show us ONE school...just ONE....in this entire freaking province, heck, in all of Canada... that allows vaping and unrestricted phone use in the classroom?
Can he name ONE school anywhere in Canada with no bans?
ONE

“Parents & teachers know that banning cell phones or anything else is no substitute for real education. Real education takes effort, day in & day out, from people who are present… Depriving ON’s children of educators is the worst thing this gov’t can do for the future…” #OntEd
Ontario has cut 5,000 classroom positions since 2018. Yes, cell phones are a distraction. The real problem is the underfunding of public schools. #onted #onpoli.
How many positions has your school board lost? See the board-by-board breakdown below.

@TheLawofWork Juling? Ss do this IN class.
How do you suggest we get phones away from S who:
1. Refuses to hand it over
2. Refuses to leave classroom when asked to go to Office
3. No one available to come to room
4. 27 other Ss waiting
Bonus: S calls parent from classrm to complain about you!
@Sflecce My students aren’t distracted by cell phones Steve. Mine are distracted by the 3-5 classmates with over-the-top emotional dysregulation issues. That’s 15-18 kids in each of my classes who don’t get to learn because of extreme and oppositional attention-seeking. Thoughts?@Sflecce
“The Technical Papers for 2018-2019 & 2024-25 provide the # of classroom educators per 1,000 students. For kindergarten, the number dropped from 95 to 90. For grades 4 to 8, it dropped from 54 to 52. For grades 9 to 12, it dropped from 74 to 70.”
That’s 5000 teachers.

Banning vaping on school properties? I’ve been a bit tapped into other issues lately, but isn’t vaping already illegal for anyone under the age of 19? Therefore already illegal for all students? Isn’t banning something that is illegal just saying the obvious? #OntEd
