AMDA Caravan to Rushooka in Ntungamo. Growing together in Faith. The recently concluded Archdiocese of Mbarara Development Association's (AMDA - An association of Catholics from Mbarara Archdiocese who work and live in Kampala, Wakiso, Entebbe, Mpigi and Mukono) @AMDAUganda Caravan to #Rushooka Catholic Parish in #Ntungamo District, now in its 10th edition after other annual editions in other Parishes, has once again demonstrated the power of #faith, #service, and #community. Over three days, from September 6th to 8th, 2024, the caravan gathered more than 300 AMDA members, 600 dedicated #health workers, who offered their expertise to the community across 12 centers: Rushooka, Kayonza, Kijubwe, Shagasha, Kaina, Rwentobo, Rukooma, Kabingo, Bujuzya, Kashenyi, Nyabugando, and Kasaana. Additionally, the neighboring Bwizibwera Parish, other parts of Ntungamo, and community members that came from some areas of #Kigezi (#Kabale Diocese) were also served. On September 7th, 2024, 5,258 patients from all religions received much-needed free care, including 65 #cataract surgeries and 422 #dental procedures. The caravan also provided #cancer screenings and other essential #medical services, emphasizing holistic #health. These selfless acts reflect the pillars at the heart of AMDA: spiritual growth, education, unity, leadership, economic empowerment, health, and environmental sustainability. This caravan is a living testament to AMDA’s enduring mission of #love, #service, and #hope. It exemplifies how #faith can manifest in tangible, impactful ways that not only heal but also uplift entire communities. #Rushooka Parish, 5,469 feet above sea level, is home to 15,000 Catholics across 12 centers. The parish is known for its hospitality, and strong faith, onions, institutions like the Daughters of Divine Charity and the School Sisters of St Francis of Assisi. #Ntungamo District itself, with its rolling hills, lush farmlands, and serene atmosphere, is a picturesque haven in #WesternUganda. The district’s beauty is matched only by the strength and spirit of its people. Here, the AMDA Caravan not only provided essential #medical services but also helped complete classroom structures in some schools in the parish, started income generating projects such as distributing cattle, funded renovations at the parish, planted over 62000 trees, conducted pro-bono legal clinics and talked to the community about #economicempowerment, #leadership, meaningful #youthengagement, #family, #environmentalsustainability, #spirituality among others.
