To those who think AGI is upon us: 1. why don't we have level-5 autonomous driving? Any 17 year old can learn to drive in 20 hours of training. 2. Why don't we have domestic robots that can clear the dinner table and fill the dishwasher? Any 10 year old can learn to do that in minutes. Obviously, we are still missing something big for machines to reach human-level intelligence. How do we get machines to learn how the world works?
@ylecun If we get level-5 autonomous driving and domestic robots that can clear the dinner table and fill the dishwasher in the near future, would you start to worry?
@ylecun Why we don't have that yet? Because humans are extraordinarily advanced and 300k years cumulative technology of humanity still far behind the technology of the creation But I think we will reach the point those tasks are done Not with real intelligence but with proper models
@ylecun Thing is, a 17 year old is allowed to be a bad driver and people are allowed to get into car accidents. What we expect from autonomous driving is above the level of the best drivers in the world. Bring the requirement and regulation down and we'll have it in a year.
@ylecun What a silly claim. "any 17yo can learn to drive"... It took them 17 years to learn enough about the world in order to add a few trivial pieces that allow them to drive. Once a computer learns to drive, zero training will be needed for the next million computers...
@ylecun 1. We nearly have L5 driving. Tesla is essentially there. 2. It took a 10 year old 10 years to get to that point. Tesla needs a few years. They are barely at the toddler stage. 3. AGI has nothing to do with either of these. Your logic is faltering.
@ylecun We do have it. You just are underinformed or unaware.
