“Much of the world is rightly denouncing Bush this week for the invasion of Iraq. But if we’re going to be honest in weighing history, we also have to credit him for saving 25 million lives and turning the tide of one of the worst epidemics in history.” nytimes.com/2023/03/21/opi…
@tribelaw Why now! I knew back when Scott Ritter was weapon inspector under Clinton that there was no weapons of mass destruction. What they did have was a space portal! That space portal is what USA wanted to have control over! @gregblack_ET @DrStevenGreer @MiaFarrow @WilliamWWarwick
@tribelaw None of us are perfect. He made some big screw ups based upon advice from those around him. He also made good decisions as well.
My husband did four tours in Iraq and I can’t fathom a hate for Bush and the Iraq decision. After Trump I have a different outlook and Bush has not wailed to extremism and Trumps horrific corrupt display of leadership. He’s grown as a human being. His job wasn’t easy; mistake or not.
@tribelaw People get into power one way or another and make decisions. Some are good some are bad. Iraq was very bad . But so was leaving Assad in Syria when he crossed the red line. So it isn’t as easy as it looks.
@tribelaw Has nothing to do w/honesty. Easy enuf to recognize a good thing. It’s about balance & context. 1 good thing changes none of the bad things. And 2b precise, the 25M is grossly overstated as it assumes that no one would’ve taken similar action at any point thereafter. Just sayin’.
@tribelaw Everyone fixates on Charles Manson's role in orchestrating mass murder, he never gets credit for playing guitar rather well.
@tribelaw I think this is comparing apples and oranges. Even if Bush did one thing right, it doesn't make up for his dishonesty and callousness in starting a war of choice in Iraq. The ramifications of his lies have caused tremendous pain and suffering, and continue to do so today.
@tribelaw This is a much better article for understanding the horror that Bush created when he started the Iraq War. nytimes.com/2023/03/20/opi…
@tribelaw The 300,000 dead Iraqi would have a different opinion.
