College basketball reporter Jeff Goodman takes a shot at LSU head coach Will Wade:
"Will Wade, I wish you didn't come back to college basketball. Honestly, I mean that. I like Will. I've known Will since he was an assistant at Harvard back in 2007... 2008. But man, you suck for college basketball. You're making it into a mockery. Look in the mirror and understand it's not just about you... Don't try to ruin this sport."
It’s great that Will Wade is going to build a roster of 23-25 year old professional players from overseas, but it’s also telling that no one from North America wants to play for him.
Potentially. North Carolina is a great state for baseball and the city is growing.
However I think Raleigh would be a better fit. The triangle is rapidly growing, further away from Braves country, and as evidenced by the Canes a hunger for pro sports.
NC State has landed its big fish by retaining Paul McNeil.
The three headed monster of McNeil, Edmead, and Hammond on the perimeter will be one of the best shooting trios in college basketball this season.
NC State's offense is locked and loaded for the next year. The Pack is projected to start FOUR players who shot 39% or better from 3-point range last season with 125+ attempts.
Paul McNeil tells me that he's withdrawing from the Transfer Portal and will return to NC State next season.
Huge news for Justin Gainey and the Wolfpack.
BREAKING: NC State Guard Paul McNeil Jr WILL RETURN for his Junior Season in Raleigh.
The ACC’s Top 3 Point Shooter (42.7%) has removed his name from the Transfer Portal to play for Justin Gainey & the Wolfpack.
Loyal to the soil. Running it back with the PACK.
Oh baby....Great fit...and great timing to hopefully get Paul McNeil committed this weekend.
This guy is a lightning quick spark plug who can penetrate and make things happen. Edmead's ability to create, plus Hammond's balance and ability to hit the open three, will create spacing on the floor and opportunity for whoever is in the SF position to be the featured offensive weapon for the Pack.
In light of the (a) insane dollars going to frontcourt players in the portal, and (b) Coach Gainey's stated focus on fundamentals like defense and rebounding, it's hard to imagine State adding significant scoring prowess in the post.
So now, the pitch is crystal clear for Paul McNeil --- you WILL the centerpiece of an effective offense that you know will be strong in light of Coach Goins' track record. Your usage will be off the charts while you simultaneously have the opportunity to develop defensively for the NBA behind Coach Gainey's strength. Contrast this to the idea of going to Carolina for one year to just be one of a million options where your usage will be less than half what it would be at State.
@PaulMcneilJr can not only be "the man" in the Pack's rotation in 2026-27, but also positioned to be a long term LEGEND as a fan favorite for the program in light of the current dynamic of college basketball while having a phenomenal platform from which to develop. After basketball, the guy would never have to worry about a job or an opportunity or any connectivity in the state of NC with the largest alumni base in the State being forever in love with him.
NC State picked up a commitment from Hofstra transfer PG Preston Edmead.
The CAA Rookie of the Year averaged 16.1 points on 40.1% shooting this past season.

Random thought but Gainey is also a great hire because he's part of the last group who played in Reynolds.
You know he understands our history at a level few of us do.
Justin Gainey on taking over as the NC State head coach, per release:
“I’m humbled and honored to be the head coach of the NC State men’s basketball program. This university helped build me as a player and as a person. To now lead it as head coach is truly a full-circle moment. There’s a responsibility that comes with leading your alma mater, and I embrace it fully.
“We’re going to honor our tradition, represent this university the right way, and build a program our Wolfpack family can be proud of. This place means everything to me. I wore the jersey with pride, and now I’ll lead this program with that same passion, toughness and commitment to winning that defines the Wolfpack.”
Really need NC State and Adidas to speed up those Slobbering Wolf unis in time for Justin Gainey and the Wolfpack to host Will Wade and LSU inside the Lenovo Center for the ACC/SEC Challenge next year.
Just saying.
