How long are your chapters normally? I'm experimenting with shorter chapters in my current WIP. 1k is the norm, 2k max. I think it feels quite satisfying both from a writing and reading perspective. A little dopamine hit every time you finish a chapter. #WritingCommunity

it’s crazy how many teen drama shows kick off their pilots with ‘heart throb’ characters being abusive (physically and sexually) towards female characters. Why is this?? Chuck, Damon, Ezra…
🖊️ Do you write a "bad" first draft? 🖊️ Terrible advice, IMO. It might help you get words on the page, but you'll know they're rubbish. Sooner or later, you'll kill the drive and confidence needed to carry on. Write well from the start, then edit so it sings.
I have moved on to soup recipes. They must be easy and not contain meat or fish. So far I have vegetable soup.
Yesterday I saw someone say that authors should NEVER start a sentence with "So," and today I saw someone say that writers should NEVER hire an editor unless they're self-publishing. Try not to speak in absolutes, gang. There are always exceptions. The world is a gray area.

Too many writers protect their protagonist, keeping them in bubble wrap, when you need to push them off the edge. No one changes unless they have to. Really look to see if you have enough conflict to push them to evolve. #scriptchat
