@Jazzfuel For artists: Identify four or so industry people you'd like to meet with because you've done your people research, thought about your goals, and you know exactly WHY you want to meet them. It could be a label that is a fit for your music. It could be a booking agent...
@Jazzfuel ...who books someone similar to you. It could be a manager you want to meet because, down the line, you might be someone they'd want to work with. There's nothing wrong with "get to know you" meetings but make sure the person you're meeting is a fit for what you're selling.
@Jazzfuel Make sure you understand the reality of the conference-primarily for industry folks to meet with industry folks and to see showcases so that they can liaise with industry folk to support those showcasing artists.
@Jazzfuel It's easy to feel like a bottom-feeder as an artist attending a jazzahead or similar. To avoid this, have a couple of meetings scheduled (informal, buy the person a coffee or drink, speak plainly, don't get lost in the shmooze)....
