When you’re 20 points ahead in the polls and you’re still gaining traction through hammering affordability and cost of living themes, why would you take a torch to U.S-style culture wars and punch down on Canada’s most vulnerable? Well, if you’re Pierre Poilievre, this is precisely what you do. It’s not good enough to be well, well ahead. True to his reputation, PP must sow division *where it doesn’t exist* so that he can cater to far-right extremists within the CPC fold. Extremists who are the most loyal donors and door knockers. Yesterday was a textbook case on why Poilievre is unfit to be prime minister: ganging up on trans people, trying to make pornography an issue and calling the PM names that are unbecoming of any elected official.
