To be clear, the #Packers are releasing LT David Bakhtiari. This is not a retirement. Bakhtiari has indicated to people he intends on playing this season. He becomes a free agent immediately. #Packers gain $20.95M in cap space but Bakhtiari will still count $19.06M in dead money.

The #Packers cap move with OLB Preston Smith (ESPN reported a move first) included $1.9M coming off his $5.7M base, source said. In exchange he got up to $4 million in sack incentives. He'll need at least 10 to draw on that, but in new D, he won't be dropping into coverage much.
