/ I'd like to tell you a short story about someone who thought they were showing empathy to someone else. They said: "I know just how you feel." [Narrator: They didn't] Chances are, you've said this--

/7 A few years ago I read a book called "Dare to Lead." I was a leader, and wanted to be a better one. You know what, though? In reading it what I found were tips on how to be a better *person*. 💪 There are 3 key traits that will help you . . .

/7 💪 Vulnerability, courage, and empathy: key traits of effective l̶e̶a̶d̶e̶r̶s̶h̶i̶p̶ personhood. Vulnerability, courage, and empathy are for everyone!

/7 💪 True l̶e̶a̶d̶e̶r̶s̶h̶i̶p̶ personhood requires vulnerability. This means admitting you don't have all the answers. Being willing to ask for help. It means being open to feedback and learning from your mistakes.

/7 💪 Courage is an essential quality of a good l̶e̶a̶d̶e̶r̶ person. Brown defines courage as "showing up and letting ourselves be seen when we have no control over the outcome." Courage isn't just about the big moments, it's about all of them.

/7 💪 Empathy! Always empathy. It's about understanding and relating to the emotions and experiences of those around us. (as an aside I have a thread on how to do this! )

/7 "Dare to Lead" is full of advice to help you become more confident, compassionate, & effective i̶n̶ ̶y̶o̶u̶r̶ ̶r̶o̶l̶e̶ as a person. Highly recommended add to your 2023 reading list.

/7 I love talking about introspection and growth, and would love to hear if this got you thinking or helped you. Follow me @lcogginz for more, and like/retweet if you feel it!
