@prancingponypod Anyway, I don’t know about specific readings per say, but maybe a selection of landscape descriptions, and/or some of the culture of Rivendell which really reminds me of a hostel or national park lodge where strangers gather to rest and trade stories. The Prancing Pony inn too!

@prancingponypod Personally I find a lot of the Tolkien passages (in The Hobbit especially) to be very inspiring to push me out of my comfort zone and see new things. “Adventures are not all pony rides in May-sunshine” is a quote I’ve thought of many times during some adventurous traveling.

@prancingponypod Sure going to an island and relaxing on a beach is one thing. But backpacking through Europe, or trying to find film locations in New Zealand, or going camping in the American west… etc etc sure it’s not the same as dodging trolls and balrogs, but it’s not always relaxing!

@EmbryEthan Violent outbreaks will be sad, but will serve to turn more normies against them and elevate the danger from these people in their minds. The violence will also fail, and the result will be in more extremists exposing themselves/getting locked up.

@EmbryEthan I actually disagree - it's the sign of a well-functioning system of government when you can throw a former head of state in prison without the army/police apparatus being compromised. Many countries (including democracies) have done it. Keep these bastards honest!
