@masspolwatch @msstevie @jvgraz No, 2014 they should have not organized the coup. Let Ukraine deal with the issue of whether to take the IMF loan or the Russian loan. Then this whole mess would likely have been avoided!!
@rethaiard @msstevie @jvgraz The estimated 60% of the country who took part in protests that lasted more than two months almost entirely peacefully, until forces under that wonderful man's direct order fired on protestors
@masspolwatch @msstevie @jvgraz 1/ 60% didn't take part in the protests; that's a twisting of figures. The protests took place over two months, there were a few days where the protesters number around 1 million, but you'd need that number of protestors every 2nd day to make up 27M (60% of 45M.)
@masspolwatch @msstevie @jvgraz 2/ the dubious 60% is not a confirmed number, and even as an unconfirmed number it is not the percentage of Ukrainians that protested, it's the number of people protesting each day added together. The percentage of Ukrainians that protested is more like 10% at best.
@rethaiard @msstevie @jvgraz Yea that's not right. Fair. I found a study once by a well regarded academic in Ukraine and the number was huge. I will try to find it. But agreed, 60% is absurd. My bad.
@masspolwatch @msstevie @jvgraz Probably numbers for Kyiv itself. I have no doubt that 60% or more of Kyiv participated over the 2 months, maybe 30% of the 'Western' region. But that's not all of Ukraine. South and Eastern Ukraine especially did not support the protests or the coup! What of their voice?
@rethaiard @msstevie @jvgraz They had an election that was by all accounts fair. The results are what they are. It is notable the support for Svoboda largely collapsed in that post-Maiden election.
@masspolwatch @msstevie @jvgraz They had an election that was by all accounts fair?? Yes, that can be said of the government that they illegally overthrew ... one for which if they wanted out, they had an election coming up in a years time, and then were offered to hold one immediately. "War is what it is!"
@rethaiard @msstevie @jvgraz And again, you dismiss the agency of the people in the street for the boogey man US. This country does plenty of things, from outright disgusting to questionable at best, in its foreign policy. It does not control millions like pawns in a game.
@masspolwatch @rethaiard @jvgraz We dismiss your stupidity. You're a parrot. The 'agency of the people.' Fml. The people in Donbas? It was a Nazi led insurrection and coup. politics.segodnya.ua/politics/mayda…
@msstevie @masspolwatch @rethaiard Hey now. My parrots are waaaay smarter than this clown.
@jvgraz @masspolwatch @rethaiard My sincere apologies.
