Prepping kids for a STUPID standardized reading test that is more about tricking them than measuring learning is the worst. Also needed because the kids hate doing poorly. Not looking for “don’t do it then” takes. Anything helpful sure but I am full on overly idealistic takes 😉

@mrbgilson The tricky tests break my heart. Like… why do they have to be so intentionally mean to children.

@offgridteacher @mrbgilson In 1st grade even. Our new curriculum has a gazillion assessments & some of them are so tricky on purpose. Ex: A picture of a bird on a twig. What does perch mean? To sit, to sit on a twig or branch, or to climb on a twig or branch. At no time do we talk about perch or this pic
