Anyway, the reason I keep citing 1990 is that the claim the former president keeps making is that Manhattan murder/crime/violent crime is at a “record” high. So…I am telling people what the actual record high is. If he wants to compare today to the Rudy era, he is welcome to.
@ddale8 The biggest myth is "America's mayor" had anything to do with the reduction in crime in NYC. Whoever was in Gracie Mansion during the 90's would have taken credit city-journal.org/html/how-new-y…
@ddale8 This chart shows homicides in NYC in absolute numbers, and doesn't account for population decline in the 80s & 90s- if it did, the peaks would be higher if expressed as a rate. Population is up to 8.8 million now.
@ddale8 Dale, we’ve missed your factual sass. From one Canadian to another, we adore you!
@ddale8 If only we had a similar analysis of police shootings and incidence of “white supremacy”, we might have been spared a year of riots and dozens of deaths.
@ddale8 Crime statistics go down when Democrat prosecutors refuse to charge or reduce felonies to misdemeanors.
@ddale8 Perhaps NYC could deal better with its crime problems if multimillionaires who made their fortunes from the city didn't cheat on their taxes for decades.
