🔥In order to properly deliver a blow properly, it's not a step. You have to come out of your hips & then take a step. That's the art of teaching blow delivery. Wise words from Ed Orgeron on using hips, hands & then feet to deliver a powerful blow to your opponent.

The great Pete Jenkins was the first one I learned this concept from. And let me tell you it was one of the biggest epiphanies I've ever had. I wrote about that revelation in the below post. craigroh.com/posts/the-geni…

@craigroh Craig would you say this rule stands for passing downs? I’d assume no

@jasonjason3434 I’d actually transfer to a jet stance. It’s basically a sprinter stance where you objective is to grab as much green grass as you can in your first step as possible.

@craigroh This is mostly a matter of realizing how the body generates force and/or power. Comes from the hips. Not a step. True in almost all sports.

@CoachJeffBlair So true hips are the source of power no matter what the sport.

@craigroh I don’t like to disagree against professional caliber coaches, but I’d prefer a simultaneous hip pop, and step to avoid leaning/lunging and totally whiffing on POA. Thus= no balance

@craigroh Interesting… I’ve seen some noses do that where they punch without a step

@sub77lime What's interesting is if you look at hips hands and feet in game it ends up being closer to what you're talking about. Especially for DEs they usually need to take a step before contacting their opponent.

@AlanHenion Ya I'd say this technique is especially useful for interior players who are closer to their opponent.
