The reason we always hear the phrase "socialism with Chinese characteristics" is because China has an acute awareness that it's a unique nation with unique needs and values which don't apply everywhere else. The notion that it's trying to impose its system on the world is absurd.

@caitoz I think it has more to do with the CPC needing to justify market domination with some central state direction. It's their way of saying market socialism and is primarily for domestic consumption.
