I'm a bit less excited about the US losing dollar and diplomacy hegemony than other anti-imperialists, only because a desperate unipolarist empire is a dangerous unipolarist empire. The most dangerous time in an abusive relationship is just when the victim starts trying to leave.
A cornered animal is dangerous, especially when it has sharp teeth. A cornered empire is dangerous, especially when it has nuclear weapons. "If I can't have you no one can" is a line that can be said to a woman or to a world. clarionledger.com/story/news/201…
@caitoz This position shows your privilege. For all the crimes of empire you cite, they don’t affect you personally - so you focus on abstract threats like nuclear war and what the US “might do”. And analogize to a personal relationship not collective oppression.
@caitoz Truth. Also not stoked about China being the new empire either. Best solution is a balance of power, we need to stop trying to be number one and focus on being a strong #2 or #3 that still holds a place in the world.
@caitoz The US is going to freak out and wildly increase the military budget with money yet to be printed in response. It will be bad for the rest of the world, and it will be terrible for everyday Americans. The US is going to make the third reich look like child's play. It's scary
@caitoz Indeed, but an unavoidable part of the process of getting out of the relationship. You can't stay in the abusive relationship just because it will be dangerous getting out if it.
@caitoz Yes, I think this is why the gun grabbing is going to spike. If there is not as much bread and circuses, they supplement with violence
