And yet, during this time, he has been ravaged by fans, more upset by their own expectations being unrealistic than anything else. He has also been treated harshly by his own peers, the students, who have brutalized him on social media with calls to transfer, etc.
And every week, he answers questions to the press, stands up after tough losses, picks himself up after every hard hit, is an obvious leader on the team, by all accounts works his ass off, and carries the burden that the QB carries, regardless of other issues iwth the team, etc.
We live in a sports culture where fans turn on their teams constantly, and he has never turned from being a Badger...exhibiting a maturity lacking in many fans.
On the field, he has improved, going from a 120 QB efficiency to 135, which is slightly above average by B10 QB standards, despite the uncertainty and craziness that has surrounded his career.
I am assuming he will not be back next year and that makes me sad, not because he is irreplaceable as a player, but because I looked forward to seeing a great final season that I think he deserves.
Or, if things did continue to be as they are, I looked forward to cheering on a great Badger who never quit and fought to the end.
Either way, he is the story that makes cheering for college athletics so much fun and why I have always believed the "playoffs or bust" crowd is missing the very best part of the games.
If this thread by chance should happen to reach Graham, I would just say that your efforts have not been unnoticed and many of us wish you the very best, wherever you might potentially land.
@THEbadgermaniac To preface, I have always been a supporter of GM until Saturday. You must not have watched the Badger game. A poor to average QB would have made the throws that GM missed and we would have won the game. He could have been injured. If he was that’s the coaches fault 4 not flagging
@badgerjeff14 @THEbadgermaniac The interception was a bad throw/decision. There were a couple throws where the receiver ran a different route than was thrown. There were several very good throws. Not the best GM game, but the loss can’t be put on him.
@jmbonavia @THEbadgermaniac Did you watch the same game that I watched?
