Whoa. THREE Memphis fire personnel were just fired for their failure to act while police officers were beating Tyre Nichols to death. More good news and I hope this sends a strong message to every law enforcement officer in the nation that there are consequences for inaction.

Statement from the Memphis fire department: "Their actions or inactions on the scene that night do not meet the expectations of the Memphis Fire Department and are not reflective of the outstanding service the men and women of the [MFD] provide daily in our community."

As Donald Trump starts campaigning again, I have a message for the media: do not air his rallies. Don’t promote his events. Don’t give him free coverage. Don’t amplify his lies. The moment you start doing so, you give Trump exactly what he wants & put democracy in greater danger.

Let’s finally learn our lesson from 2016 and 2020. Airing Trump’s rallies does no one good — except Trump.

I know it’s tempting. I know it’s an easy thing to cover. But don’t. Someone who literally tried to overturn the results of a free and fair election through violence & who continues to spread bold-faced lies simply doesn’t deserve to be given more airtime.

Just watched the entire footage of police officers beating Trye Nichols to death. It’s heartbreaking. It’s sickening. Tyre Nichols should be alive right now. Removing bad apples isn’t enough. We must upend the entire root with a new system. We must demand better.

This is Tyre Nichols. This is the man who five police officers beat to death. He should be alive right now. We should all be angered and outraged and demand an entirely reformed police system. We can’t go on like this any longer.

You just don’t treat a human being like that. And the fact that a group of police officers did should tell you just how wrong our system is & why it must be reformed.
