Most Indians are trained to worship titles, not value creation. A person clears one UPSC exam and suddenly society treats them like they own wisdom, morality, and the right to judge everyone else. The exam is called the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination, meant to select civil servants, not kings. But the real builders? Entrepreneurs. Engineers. Factory owners. Scientists. Skilled workers. Risk takers. Job creators. They get ignored. There is an Odia proverb: “Mankada hata re salagram.” A sacred stone in the hands of a monkey. That is exactly what it feels like when corrupt, incompetent, power-hungry people try to run an entire nation. We punish people who work hard and earn. Tax the productive. Tax the ambitious. Tax the creators. At the same time, governments keep expanding schemes that often encourage dependency instead of productivity. WTF is happening? From 2004 to 2024, India had massive opportunities: • Globalization • Privatization • Dot-com boom • Telecom revolution • Manufacturing shift from China • Semiconductor wave • Deep-tech and AI • Logistics and export dominance Yet we moved too slowly while bureaucracy, corruption, and policy paralysis kept choking execution. From 1950 to 2025, India repeatedly missed growth stories because systems rewarded control more than innovation. Why tax cigarettes? Why tax alcohol? Because governments know people will still buy them. But why is there almost no accountability for people who exploit the system without contributing anything back? The biggest disease in India is not poverty. It is corruption wrapped inside power. And yes, I don’t call them bureaucrats anymore. Many have become “buttocrats” — obsessed with control, files, delays, commissions, permissions, and power games while entrepreneurs bleed. In India, money talks louder than justice. Connections speak louder than merit. And corruption has reached terrifying levels. Clear the UPSC Civil Services Examination and you’re set for life. Build an MSME. Launch a startup. Create jobs, pay taxes, take real risk and you’re still treated like a suspect. An MSME or startup founder feeds hundreds of families and drives real economic growth. An officer manages the system around it. Yet one is questioned the other is unquestioned. This is not balance. This is bias. If India keeps rewarding authority more than MSMEs and startups,we will raise more officers than entrepreneurs and then wonder why jobs are missing.
