The Rangers are adding Will Venable to the coaching staff in a position I’ve never heard of before: “Associate Manager”
Venable played for the Rangers in 2015, and one notable role he played was “guy who subbed in for Mike Napoli in left field if the Rangers had a lead after, even like, about four innings, because man was Napoli ever Not A Left Fielder”
I am informed that Skip Schumacher was the Padres associate manager, so everyone stand down: the Rangers have not invented a new coaching position. Related: I still await the invention of the “longstop” position as a loophole to the shift ban.
@ThreeTwoEephus As long as the “longstop” has his feet on the dirt I guess
@ThreeTwoEephus Is this different than a bench coach? Do these teams have both positions?
@ThreeTwoEephus Not even a shout out? Dang man
