(1/7) To our Theta community and Edge Nodes– we’ve seen lots of great discussion lately about Edge Nodes (ENs) and how different companies and projects are using the Edge Network. Many have questions about how projects can submit jobs to ENs with payment in either TNT20 tokens
(2/7) or TFUEL, and the thought process behind that. We see this as a positive for Theta and ENs a whole. Our goal is to keep the Edge Network platform flexible - what we don't want to do is restrict their design space so much that projects don’t find ENs valuable to use
(3/7) because it’s too restrictive. You can imagine how ex. Uniswap or other projects could be deterred from staying on Ethereum if LPs could only earn ETH rather than an ERC20 UNI token, and how that would limit their ability to design their own protocols. Some projects will
(4/7) choose to use TFUEL as a base payment, while others may want to use their own TNT20 token. 1st party uses ex. video streaming/encoding partners that we are focused on onboarding will use TFUEL, while 3rd parties (any type of project that wants to build on Theta) have the
(5/7) option of TFUEL or TNT20 token, and the users (EN operators) will determine which succeed. EN users will have the option to opt-in/out for jobs by project/client, so if you don't like a particular EN client & want to exclude them, or simply want to do jobs for TFUEL only,
(6/7) that's totally within your rights as an EN operator. This is also important because some may disagree with a particular EN use case for political or other reasons and it’s not viable for ENs to be forced to do work they disagree with.
(7/7) We realize that having multiple earnings options makes the system more complex in some ways, but ultimately offering more flexibility to projects should lead to greater adoption of Theta Edge Network and a more robust, valuable set of Edge Nodes which is the end goal.
@Theta_Network 1. One way to disallow an EN from processing or distributing porn - or any other category of concern to the EN operator- is to allow the operator to enter a list of words common primarily to each category of material to be disallowed.
@Theta_Network 2. As soon as any of those words are detected at the EN, that data stream is blocked from any further entry into the EN and is not processed or passed on. The EN operator knows best what words would be in the objectionable material.
@Theta_Network 3. Regarding a list of keywords for each objectionable area, I think that the EN operator would rather unnecessarily block a LOT of streams (maybe 25-50% of total) than allow 1 objectionable stream to be processed and distributed that they feel could potentially do harm.
@Theta_Network 4. I bet with a list of 10 - 20 words that the operator will know are common in a category of objectionable material, near 100% of objectionable streams will be blocked. Many non-objectionable may also be blocked but that’s probably ok.
@Theta_Network 5. By allowing an operator to list words to block a category of material it gives freedom to prioritize blocking unwanted data vs making money. More words means more thorough blocking of unwanted data but also more blocking of data that innocently uses any of the listed words.
@Theta_Network I only see one problem, so that the payments are in tfuel or tnt-20 token, the most important thing is missing, which are the partners, which today are null... so there will never be mass adoption, not only symbiote or replay will work much more is needed
@Theta_Network There, they announced Porn is cumming to theta
@Theta_Network I'm surprised Elon Musk hasn't already gotten involved. He's usually pretty good at picking these things
@Theta_Network theta was proved to be scam. the market has vra and rndr even kp chose to join audio.
