Do we allow physicians to give patients false information about their conditions? Food manufacturers to list false nutritional information? Service providers to issue false information about warranties? No? How about politicians and news reporters who purposely lie to voters?
@SteveTiger999 that's called spin. Everyone loves a good sales pitch.
@SteveTiger999 Or, religions lie about reality.
@SteveTiger999 News reporters who purposely lie can be sued for damages. This is what the Dominion suit is. It would be the same for politicians. The legal bar is pretty high as intent must be proven.
@SteveTiger999 So, basically, you’re asking people who benefit from constant lying to place legal regulations upon themselves to prevent them from benefiting from lying? What’s next? Passing laws to prohibit lawmakers from receiving lobby bribes?
@SteveTiger999 Well, we do actually allow CPCs to lie to patients and force physicians to lie to women seeking abortions in some states about the medical risks, but generally allowing politicians a pass is a case of special pleading.
