There are >100 supervised consumption sites around the world & and no one has ever died at one. At least 2 lives were saved w/in hours of NYC opening the first U.S. sites. “Every single OD is entirely reversible. Every OD death is entirely preventable.” vice.com/en/article/k7w…
There is no amount of evidence, economics, or crime statistics about supervised use sites/overdose prevention centers that means more to me than the fact that they mean we could no longer find someone too late & have to live w/ the fact that we missed the opportunity to save them
@RyanMarino I don't understand why they try to make it harder to get clean needles. Are they trying to spread STDs and infections?
@RyanMarino What do you think of the push to change OD to "drug toxicity" as a less *blaming* term for addicts?
@RyanMarino @ManishaKrishnan Wait. There were no supervised consumption sites in the US before this? Fuck.
@RyanMarino I really hope this has a ripple effect like we’ve often seen with efforts made. It’s not enough, but progress is happening. If we didn’t have our draconian and nonsensical laws friends and family of mine wouldn’tof died, I blame the war on drugs, cruel without even lowering rate
@RyanMarino Oh you mean the "junkie haven"? Ha ny post lately with the hate campaigns on this: google.com/amp/s/nypost.c…
@RyanMarino Exactly! Open them up.
