McCarthy & the GOP know that raising the debt ceiling is constitutionally required. That’s why they raised it 3 times while Trump added nearly 25% of our debt with his tax giveaways to the rich. Their sudden fiscal concern camouflages their plan to cut Social Security & Medicare.
@RepRaskin Yes, the taxes may have played a role but pandemic spending skyrocketed our debt. Be sure to include that the next time you want to blame someone for how much was spent.
@RepRaskin GOP economics is to borrow and spend. No plan to pay for it; a problem for someone else to solve later. Now they're coming for funds promised to elderly and the sick. So, a deal is a deal unless it's with the Republicans.
@RepRaskin Tell middle age people this could haunt them before they are eligible for SS. Many, if not most, nursing home patients' bills are at least partially paid for with Social Security. Will families have the $$ to pay if SS is cut? Will grandma & grandpa be kicked to the curb?
@RepRaskin Democrats had the purse strings from 2019 forward, so the recent debt is all yours.
@RepRaskin If it is required, then it is meaningless. Your tweet makes no sense.
@RepRaskin Why do you keep lying? You know the spending Trump did was because of Covid relief. You also know Republicans have no intention to cut SS & Medicare; they're trying to save it from bankruptcy. Please stop trying to scare people by lying.
@RepRaskin @chris0s As far as I can find, there is no such plan. Link? I've seen references to raising the SS/Medicare age limits to 70. That's a good idea. There needs to be some kind of phase in, but assuming that, it's a good idea. The entire notion of "entitlement", is Evil. 🎃 TCS
@RepRaskin Here is the truth America. No more lies or scare tactics from this failed administration!! Enough!!
