From Wokeness to funding to bathrooms to Critical Race Theory, the federal government SHOULD NOT be involved in education. I don't want to strengthen the federal Department of Education. I want to abolish it. I don't want Congress more involved in decisions that are best made in local school districts. I want the Congress less involved. Therefore, I voted against today's Republican bill to establish a federal “Parents Bill of Rights.”
@RepMattGaetz Your party should not be involved in education at all, especially the banning books part...
@RepMattGaetz Critical race theory is not taught at any K-12 school. It’s a law school curriculum.
@RepMattGaetz So first you plan to seat the "Parental Bill of Rights" to turn all governance of school curriculum over to parents who have no idea about education; and then you want to remove any oversight at all that would validate the education provided. What could possibly go wrong here?
@RepMattGaetz DO YOU SUPPORT THE REPUBLICAN PLAN TO SLASH SS AND MEDICARE TO PAY FOR TRUMP ADDING 7.8 TRILLION TO THE DEBT?
@RepMattGaetz 1) CRT is only taught as an elected course in a few colleges, public schools teach HISTORY 2) Here is what "woke" means, it's a term that was keyed by William Melvin Kelley in the 60s when he was fighting for racial justice. Please stop being a racist. publicbooks.org/if-youre-woke-…
@RepMattGaetz Who then sets the standards, the curriculum so it is standard across the board? A family moves from 1 state to another the curriculum should be the same. Parents now say what that curriculum is? Are the parents educated?
