This morning in Kyiv, I honored the memory of Belarusians who became part of Ukraine’s struggle for freedom and dignity. At Maidan, I paid tribute to Belarusian heroes and participants of the Revolution of Dignity. Maidan is a place where Belarusians and Ukrainians stood shoulder to shoulder for the right to determine their own future. ⚪️🔴⚪️ flags flew here alongside 🇺🇦 flags, and many Belarusians stood with Ukrainians during the most dramatic moments of the revolution. We deeply appreciate that in the very heart of Kyiv, there is a place of remembrance for Belarusian volunteers who fought not for a foreign country, but for our shared freedom and European future. I also laid flowers at the memorial to Mikhail Zhyzneuski, Hero of the Heavenly Hundred. For many Belarusians, his story became a symbol that our peoples are connected not only by geography but by shared values. The regime later took revenge even on his family, but memory cannot be erased. Today, many young Belarusians see in him an example of courage, dignity, and personal responsibility in the fight for freedom. At the memorial to Pavel Sheremet, we honored a journalist who devoted his life to truth and free speech. For Belarusians, Sheremet became one of the symbols of independent journalism and resistance to dictatorship. By honoring him, we honor all journalists who sacrificed their lives, health, or freedom for their profession and for the truth. I also honored the memory of Uladzimir Karatkevich, who returned Belarus to Belarusians themselves — our history, our dignity, our language, and the understanding that Belarus is a European nation with a rich culture and its own voice.

Together with 🇺🇦 Foreign Minister @andrii_sybiha, @Tsihanouskaya visited the Wall of Remembrance of the Fallen for Ukraine. Among these heroes are Belarusian volunteers as well – more than 80 of them gave their lives for freedom. Ukrainians are an outstanding example of courage.

Our first stop in Kyiv is a solemn one as we pay tribute to Belarusian hero Maria Zaitseva, who gave her life fighting for 🇺🇦. In 2020, she joined the peaceful protests against the regime in Belarus & was wounded. Later, she stood up against Russian aggression. She was only 24.

For me, this visit is crucial in terms of demonstrating our solidarity with 🇺🇦 and the Ukrainian people, who are fighting for their freedom and territorial integrity, as well as an opportunity to offer our assistance in concrete areas. During this visit, meetings with the leadership of 🇺🇦 are scheduled. Today, I will also hold meetings with Director of the Department of International Law and International Legal Counteraction to Aggression at @MFA_Ukraine & Commissioner of the President of Ukraine on Sanctions Policy @APUkraine @vladvlas. We will discuss matters regarding holding representatives of the Lukashenko regime accountable & strengthening sectoral and personal sanctions against the regime.

Tonight in Yerevan 🇦🇲, I met Armenian leaders and felt a truly warm welcome — and beautiful singing from a children’s choir. Thank you so much for organizing this wonderful gathering. In my speech, I thanked the Armenian people and government for supporting our shared cause. Belarusians and Armenians share history, similar trials, and the same values — to live in freedom, build democracy, and be part of the European family, where authorities respect their people and human rights. Recent days have shown that Armenia is an integral part of Europe. I look forward to the day when leaders from across Europe and the world gather in a free Belarus. Our nations must no longer live in the shadow of empires. We deserve to choose our leaders in free elections, to cooperate, trade, and support each other as before. And no dictator will take that future away.

On the eve of Tsikhanouskaya's visit to Armenia, a Belarusian political refugee who had arrived from Georgia was detained at Minsk's request.
