US Surgeon General Vivek Murthy is warning parents to ban kids from social media sites such as TikTok and Instagram until they’re 16 to 18 years old. He says online apps hinder teen development and cause a distorted sense of self.

@MikeSington @BaddCompani Kids want to fit in with their peers. If they are cut off from social media at home they will get access hanging out with friends. Then learn to hide things from their parents. It's better to provide guard rails at home, monitor access, set limits, and teach them why.
