Here is the complete first run of 2023 NFL Unit Grades! Each of the 10 units are ranked 1-32 based on current rosters (assuming Rodgers on NYJ for now) and weighted based on positional importance
A few things... 1. Yes, I'm biased against your favorite team 2. Note that some positions are deeper than others across the league. Eg. Basically every team is happy and/or deep at RB, so your team's RBs are probably lower than you'd think (and only 3% of the total grade)
I've reviewed the comments and the evidence is clear: I'm too low on all 32 teams. I'll try to be better, folks.
@MikeClayNFL Feels weird to see pats at 23rd D when the last time they were ranked that low for season scoring was ‘95. How’s that make sense? I know it’s not one for one but still
@MikeClayNFL I understand that these are difficult metrics to put together, but putting the 49ers O-line as the 3rd worst in the league is odd. I'm guessing this is based upon the departure of Mike McGlinchey, but even then it seems extremely low.
@MikeClayNFL Truly curious... How did you determine positional importance? I know there is a cont'd discussion between pass rush vs. coverage and I saw that CB has a higher percentage than ED.
@MikeClayNFL Curious what you use to factor in RBs(PFF grades, yards over expectation, etc) Detroit = 3.0 Chicago = 0.6 PFF grades '22: Swift 78.1 Foreman 73.1 Herbert 72.5 Montgomery 67.9 Rush YPC over expected: Swift 0.67 Herbert 0.28 Foreman 0.25 Montgomery -0.2 I think Det is too high
