"I will always be in awe of the straight line."—Carmen Herrera This awe kept Herrera creating abstract paintings & sculptures for over 70 years. The artist passed away 2 years ago today at age 106, just one day before her "Estructura Verde" closed on the Smidt Welcome Plaza.
We continue our celebration of #BlackHistoryMonth with artist #ClementineHunter. Hunter, a folk artist from Louisiana, is regarded as one of the most well-known self-taught artists. Working from memory, she depicted Black Southern life, producing +5,000 works in her lifetime.
