Young teachers. Pay yourself before you pay bills. Invest $50, $75, $100 a check into your retirement account. Increase that amount each year you teach. From age 25 to age 55 watch it grow. Figure out your buckets of money for retirement. 401k, SocSec, Pension. You deserve it!
@KetchamPaul Great advice! It looks like you've got a single vendor 403(b). Do you know your participation rate? Wouldn't it be amazing if the 403(b) provider supplied a retirement specialist who's only job was enrollment and education for the teachers in your district?! #Rethink403b
