@DrGithiria There are about 50,000 registered nurses in Kenya. Out of this, only about 22,000 are in meaningful employment. The rest are unemployed or underemployed with no commitment from the government to employ them. Look at the UHC contracts.

@covidinquiryuk Dear Baroness Hallett - do consider @WHO guidance on the 'Standardised measurement and reporting of the impact of COVID-19 on health and care workers'. This sets out key domains, numerator/denominator for globally comparable data.

The request for, and adoption of, the Compact is an example of the multilateral consensus to protect, safeguard and invest in health and care workers. Colleges & health care professional associations protecting these international obligations and consensus should be applauded.

Section 5.3.1 of this guidance is 'Fair & equitable remuneration'. With clear obligations on comparable remuneration, linked to cost of living. Further that pay should be modified on a timeline agreeable to health workers and their representation.

The 'Global Health and Care Worker Compact' was developed in response to a specific request of Member States (including the #UK) in May 2021 (WHA74.14) to provide governments with a succinct compilation of legsislation/obligations etc to protect health workers with decent work.

In May 2022, the World Health Assembly (which includes #UK as a Member State) resolved to utilise, where relevant, the 'Global Health and Care Worker Compact' to inform national action and implementation to protect and support health and care workers. @seaningle Don't kid yourself on "balance". Your first tweet was sensational to appeal, your second a pretence at neutrality. No-one re-tweets neutral.
