@__bjc__ @laurieontech Yes,but using your example a lot of people would see she was a young woman and ask her if she is a nurse before they ask if she's a doctor. I've seen many young female surgeons fight an uphill battle with patients for their respect because they don't believe they're doctors.

I just want to give a shoutout to my boss, who has been a role model, inspiration, mentor, and all-around wonderful person to me. I feel very lucky to be working with her and learning from her. I wish for everyone to have such supportive and empowering people in their lives.
Today was demoralizing. But I’m going to wake up tomorrow and keep fighting for an industry that champions those who learn, build, and teach. Rather than those who think they have to pretend to know it all.
