Well, that sucked, having to explain the verdict to my kid. Even though I clearly told him what *would* happen, he still didn't believe me, thinking that I was "underestimating" the jury. I wasn't. :(. Sadly, part of growing up Black is learning to never underestimate white folks
He got McDonalds and is feeling better about things. I feel like that should be an ad for the place: "Did you have to tell your child about some awful manifestation of racism today and they're not lovin it? Tell the counter and we'll sneak an extra toy into the Happy Meal"
@ElieNYC I’m sorry 😞 this verdict gives me even more resolve to change that.
@ElieNYC That's growing up #wokeblack. Regular black Americans know you can't attack people, and if you do, they can fight back. You teaching them your racehate?
@ElieNYC The laws are for protecting white privaledge The same laws are used to oppress POC
@ElieNYC You could tell the fix was in when the judge spent the entire trial indulging his political whims. Is it too much to ask 12 people to trust the evidence of their eyes and not be manipulated by specious arguments from the defense and the judge? They have all reaped the whirlwind.
@ElieNYC I was with your young one, I believed in the jury. McDonalds is closed.
@ElieNYC @MollyJongFast Maybe don't try estimating people based on their skin color. Just a thought. 🤷
@ElieNYC I saw the whole of Baltimore From May until December of all the things that happened there that’s all that I remember -Countee Cullen Once they learn tho, it sticks with them
