Phrasing your search query as a question makes DuckAssist more likely to appear in search results. If you’re fairly confident that Wikipedia has the answer to your query, adding the word “wiki” to your search also makes DuckAssist more likely to appear.

Even though we are summarizing Wikipedia, we still expect DuckAssist to make mistakes. That’s why it’s important to share feedback during this beta phase, so we can take steps to make improvements. Just look for the anonymous feedback link next to all DuckAssist answers.

How it works: If you ask a question in our search box that can be answered by Wikipedia, DuckAssist may appear and use AI natural language technology to anonymously generate a brief, sourced summary of what it finds — right above our regular private search results.

DuckAssist is live in our search results from within our DuckDuckGo browsing apps (iOS, Android, Mac, Windows) and browser extensions (Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Edge). If this trial period goes well, we expect to roll it out to all search results (outside our apps) soon.
