Pit bulls/Bully breeds have been battling a bad reputation for many years. I’ve spent a career with them & through my experiences, providing care & interacting they are among the nicest dogs in the world. Generally the problem isn’t with the dog but with irresponsible owners.
Just because someone’s not in a traditional home, it doesn’t necessarily make them less of a pet parent.

Just launched something I’ve been wanting to do for years! In Skid Row, for free & on the honor system, anyone who needs food for their dog or cat can stop by the “Dog Food Pantry” It’ll be stalked with premium food 24/7. Hopefully more to come in the future!

We are excited to have launched our first PSV Pet Food Pantry alongside the Skid Row ReFresh Spot! This pantry will provide a much-needed resource for pet nutrition, which @DrKwane realized was something we needed to incorporate better into our care programs. Read more below:
Some super cute 🐶 and 🐱 came by for PSV veterinary care services at our clinic hosted by Long Beach’s Multi-Service Center is a place where unhoused individuals can get connected w/ resources from housing, employment, mental health support, and now veterinary care through PSV!
Although we are grateful to assist more pets and pet parents each year, it reminds us that this is because the need for PSV and similar services continues to increase as well. We appreciate everyone who supports this work to make it possible ❤️
By the numbers 📊 Pets of the Homeless states that in “2023 HUD Report to Congress on the Point in Time Count showed over 653,000 people in the US were experiencing homelessness. They also estimate that up to 25% of people experiencing homelessness have at least one pet.”
