In parliament today MPs from the government benches will repeat the lie that Natalie Elphicke spoke this morning - that there are safe routes to the UK for asylum seekers. This is not true.
There are no safe routes. We need to change course and introduce them now. twitter.com/Pete_Radcliff/…
@thatbloodyMikey Keith working through the alphabet faster than Covid variants, what’s he up to now ‘F list’ or ‘G list’ talent?
Today is the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People. This day was established by the UN as an annual reminder of the continuing denial of Palestinian rights, in the hope that this would galvanise the international community to take action to end the injustice
Did you know?
1. scientists say processes like permafrost thaw can trigger 3°C-5°C of warming to confirm one of Earth's worst ever mass extinctions even if coal use doesn’t rise
2. they urge epic 2020s action on gas & oil warning of impacts by 2037-2051 we just can't adapt to🧵
Sadly, similar polling of Labour MPs would reveal less of them are concerned about NHS privatisation. That’s why most of them rarely talk about it, let alone commit to ending it or even reversing it.
@respeak_uk Indeed, political engagement won’t happen spontaneously, it needs either an igniting issue (like Brexit was) or a politician/movement that can. Not even Starmer’s most loyal allies would say he could spark anything.
Media constantly ask 'will people put up with Covid restrictions' - implying that we are the weak point in the pandemic, stopping Government from acting.
Actually it is the other way round. Even before Omicron, the public supported actions such as masks and distancing.
Best excuse for Starmer’s waste of over a year and half as leader and his poor polling it’s the electorate’s fault!
@LeftieStats This is a recipe for permanent Tory governments. Why? So, that Labour can be kept pure for sometime in the future when it becomes a Left party again and then wins a majority? We don’t have the time, every crisis is getting worse and the Tories are making them worse.
Is this a government campaign or a party political campaign?
Confused as to why it is branded with a party political logo.
Have the Conservative party received permission from the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care for this NHS-Conservative party co-branding? twitter.com/sajidjavid/sta…
BREAKING: 2.5 million nurses from 28 countries have filed for a UN investigation of human rights violations by the EU, UK, Switzerland, Norway, and Singapore for blocking the waiver on Covid-19 vaccine patents as new strains proliferate: covid19criminals.exposed
Nothing to see here folks. These are a completely evidenced based policies… 🤷🏽♀️
The pandemic is a teachable political moment. It shows we are interdependent and interconnected on a planetary scene. By embracing nationalism and prioritizing shareholder profit (capitalism) we’ve created the conditions for variants bursting vaccines. We need democratic planning twitter.com/zanubar/status…
Having ditched nearly all Covid protections, We have been running with high levels of disease for months.
We have had over 5 million infections since July 1st. No other W. European country has had 2.
We have had some 16,000 deaths. No other W.European country is approaching 10.
You don't have to be a PR guru or a behavioural scientists to work out that the last two years have been a communication shit-show from the UK government - messaging and measures continually out of sync or even at odds with each other. And yet public health is 90% about comms.
Shag as many flags as you want. Wear your beret in the bath. Pin your medals on for breakfast.
They still won't care about you.
When literally every country “banning” you has a higher infection rate 🙄
Blunkett’s track record is remarkably shabby. Why does Starmer think that bringing back a has been like this is a good idea? twitter.com/jrc1921/status…
This clip is a good illustration of why Starmer still hasn't cut through with the public despite being Labour leader for over a year and half and crucially, despite the worst government and Prime Minister ever.. twitter.com/JamesEFoster/s…
Asylum seekers fleeing war didn't undermine our NHS.
Asylum seekers fleeing rape didn't create a housing shortage.
A decade of Tory cuts and austerity did that - but the Tories want people blaming the vulnerable while they serve the super-rich.
A registered British political party having its ability to communicate determined by a privately owned company based in the US.
The tweet itself was entirely fine, but the principle is significant. twitter.com/philipproudfoo…
