A good friend deported today. Smoked cannabis in THAILAND during Chinese New Year, someone gave his name during a separate investigation, tested positive in China. Police wouldn't tell him which law he broke. Harsh reminder of everyday reality: there is no rule of law in China.

Weed possession was portrayed as a *completely life-destroying crime* all while I was growing up, but suddenly Westies act like it's never ever been illegal here and that China is ~*~CrAzY~*~ for evolving their drug laws with a different philosophy and at their own schedule.

Put aside any opinions about about laws/weed and notice his "whatever is always has been" way of arguing. Westies rewriting their own past to reimagine themselves as forever on the "progressive" side of any issue is one of the purest examples of generalized historical nihilism.

@RodericDay are these dipshits fucking kidding how many black men have had their lives destroyed because of weed in the us, either due to jail or outright death via cop

Americans love to act like whatever decision they sorta half-assedly changed like 3 months ago is immediately a universal forever rule that could never be otherwise, and whomever disagrees is some archaic tyrant that needs to get with the program.

@RodericDay Which is ironic since most of the social progress in the US (labor and civil rights) was made because the Soviet Union was so far ahead and people (particularly communists and socialists) demanded change.
