On this day 83 years ago, Nile Kinnick (Senior RB) for Iowa Hawkeyes won the Heisman. He won the Heisman with 375 rushing yards with 5 TDs while passing for 638 yards with 11 TDs and 13 INTs.
Note: Junior QB Tom Harmon of Michigan finished second with 852 rushing yards with 13 TDs while throwing for 488 yards with 6 TDs and 8 INTs.
@CFBHome He’d still be their best offensive player today
@CFBHome I’m still looking forward to watching Iowa’s all time great in his documentary!!🖤💛#NileKinnick
@CFBHome He was also the kicker and played defense, hauling in 8 ints that year.
@CFBHome Oh how Iowa wished they had that type of offensive production this year
@CFBHome He also played almost every minute on both sides of the ball. Was the kicker/punter and had 8 INTs.
@CFBHome We are never letting any Iowa fans ever trash talk any decent power 5 ever again! This is y’all’s goat 😂🤣
@CFBHome Kinnick became a Naval aviator and died in a crash during a training flight just before his 25th birthday. “This country will be fine if it turns out young men like Nile Kinnick,” a sports writer wrote. The Hawkeyes stadium is appropriately named Kinnick Stadium.
