Today in 1969, The Beatles performed their legendary rooftop concert on the roof of the Apple Corps building in London. They played for the city for 42 minutes before being stopped by the police. It was John, Paul, George, and Ringo’s final public performance as “The Beatles”.
@BeatlesEarth Beautiful memories of the end of a great band.
@BeatlesEarth … and the amazing Billy Preston on keyboard
@BeatlesEarth @gmbutts F:);&k yeah! I think I’ve watched this 1000x
@BeatlesEarth @gmbutts Come on, they are about to break up, haven’t played live for 3 years, Paul & John still enjoying playing each others songs. It is incredible!
@BeatlesEarth @tedgioia There are some things above the law, this is one of them. If I was a cop I wouldn’t stop them!
@BeatlesEarth Magnificent Mal Evans, holding back the blue hordes like a Roman centurion at the gates of Rome.
@BeatlesEarth Young coppers trying very very hard not to scream like excited schoolkids. No doubt one of the greatest days in their entire lives.🤣🤣🤣🤣
@BeatlesEarth @PhillyNewsGuy Imagine being the cop telling someone at the bar stories about how he stopped the final The Beatles concert 🥴.
@BeatlesEarth What exactly did the police shut them down for? I mean, they were on top of their own (Apple) building, weren't they?
