No, because football is a clock-based sport, and the clock is a huge part of the strategy and tactics of the game. The baseball pitching clock should be in the background, to the point that you ideally get through an entire game without it being referenced.

@BPredict Baseball is now also a clock-based sport to a degree. I don't feel like I'm only clock-watching when I watch football so I don't see why this is different
@itsyabo1ddmf Please explain the new tactic or strategy driven by where the clock is. What is a player doing at 7 on the pitch clock that they're not doing at 2?
@BPredict I didn't say that players are doing anything differently. They just hav to throw the ball before the clock expires. I do not buy the notion that people's eyes are drawn to motion and therefore will only be watching the clock. We watch football just fine
@itsyabo1ddmf We all stare at the play clock as it's ticking down. Eyes are attracted to motion. And MLB wants a world (and likely will have a world soon) where zero pitchers are called for violating the pitch clock. It's supposed to be 100% invisible. The clock will tick down to no effect.
@BPredict The NFL wants a world where no offenses are called for delay of game. It's supposed to be invisible there too, and it ticks down to no effect like 99% of the time. I've never heard anyone complain that they find the play clock distracting in football
@itsyabo1ddmf Here's where you misunderstand my point. Even if there are no delays of the game there are STILL tactics woven inextricably to the clock: When a team substitutes, if a team hurries to the line, if a team intentionally runs clock, if a defender tries to time the snap, etc.
@BPredict The pitcher and catcher have to agree on a pitch before time expires, the baserunner can try to time up the release of the pitcher to get a good jump, pitcher may have to hurry the windup if the clock is running down. The game isn't independent of the clock
