After a wasted decade, today is a great day for action on climate change. Our Safeguard Mechanism is a step closer to passing Parliament. It will help us reach our goal of reducing emissions by 43% by 2030.
Thank you to the crossbench for their constructive engagement. Our plan is good for the environment, good for jobs and good for the economy.
@AlboMP Ironic that you talk about climate change on the same day a guy turns up who recently bought a water front mansion on martha's vineyard. I can smell the 🐂💩 from here
@AlboMP Australia stuck in reverse on energy, IR and tax: Productivity Commission chair Gary Banks theaustralian.com.au/nation/politic…
@AlboMP It's still greenwashing, the IPCC still says there must be no new coal and gas and no amount of creative accounting will change that. Risking our food and water supply, lives and livelihoods for some short term cash grabs for fossil fuel companies is a huge betrayal.
@AlboMP Net Zero is an economic suicide mission: Too many people tend to think of electrical energy as "just another sector" of the economy. When it is, in fact, the electrical energy sector makes all the economic sectors possible.
@AlboMP Your plan is good for multi-bay FF companies who combined employ less Australians than MacDonald’s yet you still grovel to them.
@AlboMP There can be no backsliding on this deal in favour of the fossil fuel industry. It is already less than what is required according to the science. We must see greater measures to be taken to the next election.
@AlboMP It is but isn't it the action that was needed 10 years ago? Do we need a step up now?
@AlboMP Thank god for the cross bench and Greens. Labor's Safeguard Mechanism was anything but.
