Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are asking the country for two simple things. Recognition in the constitution. And a Voice to Parliament. Today the Referendum Working Group has announced the proposed wording for a referendum that will do just that.

And this morning, Cabinet has endorsed the wording of the question Australians will be asked. For so many, today is the result of years of patient and passionate work. Now, the chance to make history and create a better future belongs to you – the people of Australia.

@AlboMP I’ve read enough thanks champ. It’s a #no to racism from me.

@AlboMP No thanks, point 3 in this is an open book to make any laws and changes whenever it is decided including the power the voice to parliament has. I'm worried the rumours are true about the UN asset stripping Australia through native titles and me, a veteran paying land rent.

@AlboMP Fairly stated. I'll be voting Yes in the referendum.

@AlboMP Zero new details, no limits on the new 'powers' and no justification or examples of what The Voice will actually add that Aboriginals do not already have. #VoteNOAustralia

@AlboMP A quick web search turns up 97 separate aboriginal organisations in SA alone. If you can't close the gap with that much capital & infrastructure already in place what makes you think another bureaucratic body is going to do something new? You're not listening to their voices now.

@AlboMP Thank you, unlike others in opposition I have enough information to cast my vote of Yes

@AlboMP 1/ They should get one, not the other. The wording of the recognition of the aboriginal as the first people of Australia, is wrong. They weren't. Denisovan cultural artifacts were found coming from 120,000 years ago.
