I went to college in a go go gadget chair 2 months after injury using a microphone to transcribe notes and papers. I got up at 5am to do therapy at 7am, then went to work at 10am till 4pm, then school 6-10pm 3-4 days a week. On the weekends I volunteered for non profits trying to learn new skill sets. I moved to Texas after college and took a $50/yr job. I did Fox for free for 6 years before I signed… I did all of that for 8 years before I accepted a mortgage free home as well. I have been blessed no doubt. But if all of that is luck, I’d trade all my luck for a set of real legs and 15 years of my life back with no media career in a heartbeat. If all of that is “lucky” I imagine any veteran with average intelligence and half a body has an opportunity to be pretty damn lucky too!

@Johnny_Joey You got pretty lucky in my opinion. The trouble is finding a good job. You can do the GI Bill and add it to military experience. It may not make a difference. I am not sure if you could make on a dock. Moreover, when you get older your feet and back...Freight waits no man!

In life, you may face challenges, such as being told you are in someone else's seat, or accidentally stealing someone else's parking spot. Maybe you grabbed the wrong takeout order.
